Decode the wording before assuming a delay
Tracking labels are not consistent across carriers. The useful question is whether the goods are waiting for pickup, moving through export or transit, in import clearance, or at final delivery.
Shipment tracking FAQs
Does a tracking number mean the order has shipped?
Not always. A supplier or carrier can create a label before the goods are picked up. Look for the first physical carrier scan, such as pickup, acceptance, or warehouse handoff.
How long without an update is too long?
It depends on the service and stage. As a planning rule, a gap of about 3 days for express, 4 days for air, or 7 days for ocean freight deserves a route-specific check. Holidays, consolidation, and customs can extend these windows.
What should I collect before contacting support?
Keep the order number, carrier or forwarder name, tracking number, shipping method, latest status wording, timestamp, latest location, promised dispatch date, and any invoice or document request.
